[Graduation Year: All]

Law Preview provided me with a distinct advantage in the fall semester as I had a general knowledge of all the 1L courses, and was able to put the cases we read into a meaningful context. In addition, because GMU doesn't teach Civil Procedure until the Spring I had a significant advantage over my peers due to the background provided by Law Preview. While I would have excelled even without the Law Preview Course, I suspect the course helped me place first in my class. Due to my stellar 1L performance, I will be completing my J.D. at Yale Law School.

Law Preview gave me better insite, and I was better prepared then my fellow students. I got a 3.7/4.33 GPA. I had at least for a semster an insurmountable advantage. The second semester I saw some of the advantage worn away, but I still expect a 3.5 GPA for the spring term.

Grades are out for the year and I'm ranked in the top 10% (almost top 5% -- 9/156), which amazes me considering how smart everyone in my class is. I really think the Law Preview advice helped me study smart and capitalize on every strategy to get that all important advantage on tests. I would recommend Law Preview to any student about to start law school, or even considering whether to go at all . . . [Law Preview] really helped calm my nerves and let me know what to expect in the first year of law school. I've been out of school for 10 years and was really worried about figuring out how to study again. I also have a young daughter and was not sure how I was going to be able to compete with all the young people with no responsibilities. Law Preview not only taught me how to study, but helped me to actually enjoy my first year of law school!

I wanted to take a moment today to thank you and your colleagues for developing the Law Preview course. It was everything I had hoped for and more! . . .Your course successfully dropped my anxiety level regarding law school by about 90%. The instructors were terrific, and the value of their knowledge and experience immeasurable . . . Thank you, thank you, thank you!

The Law Preview course was great. The professors were very interesting and insightful. It really gave me a good head start. In most of my classes I'm still a little nervous because it seems too easy . . . but when I go to visit my professors during their offices hours they are usually impressed with my depth of understanding and my questions. . . . I am definitely glad that I participated in Law Preview.

Knowing the basics of the doctrine and what to expect from the classes really helped me stay calm, especially in the middle of the semester when everyone felt a little lost. Based on the Law Preview sessions, I always knew at least a little about whatever was coming up next and how it related to the important themes of each course. Having an overview of the law and a plan of attack going into day one gave me a lot of confidence throughout the semester and into exams. BEST MONEY I EVER SPENT!

The program placed a lot of the important legal concepts and doctrines in my mind early in the semester. This helped shape and sharpen my thinking for my first year courses.

Briefing was really scary. Knowing what I needed to do in advance allayed a lot of my fears and helped me be really prepared for class. I followed Law Preview's advice and briefed every case and read every case twice. It really helped. I was so prepared for class that I was able to really listen to the professor and didn't have to take tons of notes trying to get down every word. This enabled me to do focus on the bigger concepts the professor was trying to highlight. I did very well my first year and was hired as an intern at a federal court for the summer. I would recommend Law Preview to anyone who wants a head start in being ready for law school.

I just want to thank you for granting me the opportunity to take this impressive course. It was an absolute pleasure to learn from all of these top scholars. . . . You were a gracious and engaging host throughout the whole week, and I won't lie, the week was pretty intense and draining. But I feel so much confidence now about taking on the challenges that lie ahead of me. I hope to stay in touch and I wish you all the best with this wonder of a program.

Law Preview was a terrific opportunity to see some of the first-year material ahead of time. It meant that I knew what was going on for the first several weeks of each of my classes, while other people were struggling to get a clue. Words, phrases, and concepts that are meaningless to a lay person suddenly made sense, and having that head start helped me to take my studies to the next level much more quickly.

GWU does not do a ranking, but I was placed in the 1%-15% bracket of 1L students, which is the highest reserved honors that GWU gives. Additionally, I received a High Pass (top 25%) in the Research Writing class, and have since made Mock Trial Executive board, had assistantships with two GW professors, and been invited to join the George Washington University Law Review. Ultimately, the first year of law school is an experience unlike anything you have ever had before. Law Preview was able to give me the tools necessary to start the first day running, something that usually takes most other students a month or so in class to figure out. The course overviews helped me to recognize principles in each of the core courses, which helped lay the foundation for a complete understanding while in class. I found that I knew the essentials of case briefing from day one -- and knowing what to look for while reading cases is the biggest step in legal learning. The Law Preview class on Exam Taking helped me to not only recognize exactly what my professors wanted to read, but helped me go into the course from day one with that mindset (something most students don't begin to realize until they begin to outline). Finally, and I think most importantly, Law Preview just took away the initial nervousness that I felt going into Law School. With a class of 400+ of the brightest people I have ever met, it is VERY intimidating. Law Preview helped me feel confident that I could achieve the goals I had set for myself... which I did.

Although the material in the brief lectures were helpful in providing a broader perspective on the courses I was taking, the greatest asset I took from Law Preview was the state of mind it put me in: I was ready to hit the ground running and attack my first semester. For most of the semester I felt that I was surrounded by people much smarter than myself and who were much more eloquent when speaking in class. However, when it came down to it, I walked out of the first semester with a 3.82, finishing in the top 15% at a very competitive law school.

Law Preview alleviated much of my anxiety about the first year of law school and provided me with a consistent study schedule that helped my organizational skills tremendously. I also loved Law Preview's tip sheets that were sent throughout my 1L year!! [ranked top 30% out of 500 students]

Thanks! I just got 3/5 grades back, and they're all As -- part of what kept me going last semester was knowing that if I put in the work you said, this would be the result. I can't thank Law Preview enough for preparing me to do exactly what it takes to survive in the unique environment of law school.

Dear Don, I received my grades and I did great! I received two As and one B+ resulting in a 3.76 GPA. I wanted you to know that the skills I learned at Law Preview have played a large part in the success I'm currently enjoying at GULC. I also wanted to thank you for all of your follow-up with the Law Preview students. Your program is excellent not only for the before-school preparation but also your continued support which I did not expect, but certainly appreciate. I will always proudly recommend Law Preview.

Thank you, Law Preview! I received 2 A minuses and a B+ for my first semester, amounting to a 3.55 GPA. Before taking the course, I felt intimidated about returning back to school. I had taken a few years off after college--2 years of which I spent in the Peace Corps, a very non-academic environment. Law Preview gave me the confidence and tips I needed to succeed. Law school is a totally different animal from college. What worked for you there might not work for you in law school. After taking the Law Preview course, I knew what to expect of law school. I came to school with a plan of action. I truly feel that I've received above average grades because of Law Preview. I whole-heartedly recommend it.

Don, I just wanted to thank you for starting the Law Preview course. I truly feel confident going into my first year at Georgetown Law. The advice and encouragement you gave me has relieved much of the anxiety and mystique around the law school process. No matter how my grades turn out, I at least know that I am mentally ready for the challenge. The overview Law Preview provides is second to none and I can't wait to give you an update in the years to come! Please feel free to give my name to any potential students of Law Preview. THANKS AGAIN!

Overall, this was an incredible experience -- I am so pleased and impressed and have no doubt that this will help me for years to come. Also, I can't tell you how impressed and satisfied I was with every professor and every subject . .. Thank you for everything, it was truly exceptional.

I was ranked in the top 15% of my first-year section. I found the last two days of the Law Preview course most helpful. Specifically the classes taught by Prof. Harrison, Exam Taking and Legal Research and Writing. Although I was cursing myself at the time for spending Saturday learning about mysterious things called Shephardizing and Corpus Juris Secundum, I still referred to the notes I took in that class during my LR and W class last year and during my internship this summer. I also found the e-mail updates during the year helpful. Great program.

I had good understanding of the study skills that would be needed for class and exams. I felt my Law Preview experience most in preparing for exams. I also benefited from the mental preparation that the intensive week of Law Preview forced me to undertake.
