As you read through the testimonials below, you'll notice that the vast majority were submitted by students who had completed at least one semester of law school. [Law Schools: All] [Graduation Year: All]

It helped me get down the essential skill of reading and briefing cases before school started. It also really drilled into my head that YOU CAN'T FALL BEHIND - a mistake many of my classmates made that resulted in them having less time to take practice exams (the best way to prepare for actual exams). My ranking isn't available because our exams in December were midterms, as the courses are all year long. But based on the spreads given by my professors, I know I finished in the top 20% of the class.

Law Preview helped in that it made me realize how much work law school would be. It helped me to mentally adjust and prepare to the rigorous workload and the mental thinking.

—Anonymous, University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, Class of 2011

Law Preview was a tremendous aid. Not only did it give a helpful overview of the substantive aspects of law school, it prepared me for the social and emotional aspects as well. Law Preview gave a great picture of what it means to approach law school like a job; there were explanations of how much to study, how to budget time, methods for managing relationships - everything necessary to enter school with a grasp on what works and what doesn't.

—Cara H., University of Toledo College of Law, Class of 2009

Law Preview helped me stay focused on exams. It was definitely true that much of each class is spent talking about policy, theory, and cases, but when it comes right down to it all that matters for exams is the black letter law (and how to apply it). Thanks to Law Preview, I understood that and I don't think a lot of my classmates did.

—Joseph W., University of Toledo College of Law, Class of 2011

Law Preview was extremely useful as I am a non-traditional student. Law Preview helped me make the transition back to the classroom from the boardroom. All of the instructors and staff were very friendly and helpful. Don was great and the encouragement messages throughout the first year are great as it can be a bit overwhelming and tedious at times. My time at Law Preview was time well spent!

—Michael M., University of Tulsa College of Law, Class of 2010

My law school only ranks the top three students in our class. I was not one of them. However, after the first semester I was comfortably in the top 20%, made Law Review, and was accepted for a summer internship with a state supreme court justice. Though Law Preview was a long time ago, I think the experience gave me a solid advantage in the opening weeks of my first semester. I think the experience of feeling what a law class is like and figuring out what to look for when reading cases was a huge help. When it comes to preparing for law school, nothing beats the act of actually doing the assignments and attending the lectures. I felt comfortable with that experience before the first week of classes actually began in a large part thanks to Law Preview.

—Anonymous, University of Utah S.J. Quinney College of Law, Class of 2009

Law Preview lined up a phenomenal roster of energetic professors who provided fun, interesting, and focused overviews of each first-year class. The only downside -- I can't imagine law school being this enjoyable!

—Peggy C., University of Virginia School of Law, Class of 2002

Law Preview classes provided excellent preparation for the substance of law school. I am not sure that anything can help a student truly anticipate the pedagogical style, however--law school has to be experienced, I think, and I don't just mean the Socratic method. But to the extent that's it is possible to ease the transitional shock between more familiar styles of pedagogy and legal, I definitely think Law Preview does a good job.

—Anonymous, University of Virginia School of Law, Class of 2009

[Law Preview was] definitely a positive experience by providing good insights into law school course loads and managing a tough studying and reading schedule.

While I do not know my class rank because UVa does not release such data, I do have a 3.73 (3 As and a B because I was sick and totally bombed 1 question)-- at UVa only 10% of each class can have an A or A- so I am confident that I am in the top 10% of my class. Law preview taught me three important things that I largely credit my success to. First, to continue my pattern of hard and consistent work throughout the semester. I never missed a class or did not brief a case. I was always caught up (if not ahead) in the reading. By staying a little ahead, I was able to start studying during Thanksgiving Break, which brings me to my second Law Preview lesson: practice exams! I got in touch with students from other schools and also tapped UVa's old exam database. I took at least 10 practice exams in each subject. This is a step that my friends did not do-- or if they did look at practice exams, that was all the did (literally just LOOK at them!) -- and their grades show that they failed to adequately prepare. Finally, Law Preview's outlining strategy made getting ready for finals so easy because I had already been editing and digesting my notes throughout the whole semester. While I had excellent study habits coming into law school, Law Preview reminded me to keep them up and gave me the tools to start using my habits from day one, without having to wait to figure out the mundane details of law school.

University of Washington is on the quarter system and does not have grades or rankings yet. But Law Preview has definitely helped me get a good "jump start" on understanding the concepts and ideas we've started to cover so far. Law Preview provided a good overall picture of what the law school experience would be like.

—Walter L., University of Washington School of Law, Class of 2010

Law Preview was a great experience and helpful in giving me an insight into what law school requires. I would definitely recommend Law Preview to anyone that is about to begin their first year of law school. An added perk are the free study aids that were provided such as Emmanuels and Law in a Flash - both were very handy!

—Anonymous, University of West Los Angeles School of Law, Class of 2008

Law Preview affected my first semester experience in two important ways. First, I was mentally prepared for the challenges and hard work that was required for success. While other students seemed slow to develop a routine and prepare themselves for exams, I hit the ground running. Second, Law Preview provided me with a "big picture" view and because of this I avoided getting bogged down by details and focused on how to really learn and master the material.

—Anonymous, University of Wisconsin Law School, Class of 2010

The Law Preview Program armed me with the tools to hit the ground running in the very first week of classes. I followed the schedule and was a leg up on my classmates in preparing my outlines, preparing for midterms and keeping ahead with my weekly reading. The first year was a tough year because it does take a lot of discipline to really put in the hours necessary to succeed, but Law Preview prepared me for the challenge and gave me confidence that I was not only staying on track but going above and beyond to get in the top 3% of my class.

—Emily L., University of Wisconsin Law School, Class of 2010

I think law preview helped me remember to always consider the big picture, and not let myself waste time on obscure details (like details from the case law that had no real effect on the decision), the first semester alot of my fellow classmates were caught up in those types of things, and I knew not to waste my time. Law Preview also just helped put my mind at ease before I got here, so while the first month or two people were anxiety ridden, I felt confident that I knew what was ahead of me, and what I needed to do to be successful.

—Anonymous, Valparaiso University School of Law, Class of 2008

I have come to the realization that Law Preview has gone well beyond any expectations I had. I feel prepared in every class that I attend. I can only equate this feeling with the preparation that your course provided me in the summer. For this, thank you.

—Nathaniel H., Valparaiso University School of Law, Class of 2004

Law Preview was great for the first semester. I wasn't at all satisfied with my grades from my second semester, but that was from changes I made, nothing law preview did. I tried some different approaches, that 2L's and successful 1L's had told me about second semester and I didn't do well at all. When I did what law preview told me to do I was in the top 25% of my class after the 1st semester. I'm really upset with myself, but thank god for law preview or who knows how bad the situation would be. I definately plan on going back to the law preview tactics my 2L year so that I can rebound GPA wise and try to climb back to a higher class rank. At the end of the day, law preview helped me in that the study timeline you sent out was right on the money. Trying to read more study guides or getting into more study groups definately wasn't the answer for me. I should have stuck with just studying my outline, class notes, and the few study aids I bought, and stuck to the schedule, and I think I would have been much happier with my first year outcome. Thank you though, as I found law preview to be extremely beneficial.

—Shannon W., Valparaiso University School of Law, Class of 2008

Law Preview helped to explain the big picture that each case and rule is designed to fit into. I was better prepared and knew what to expect from my classes, my professors, and most of all what I should expect from myself. I knew how to prepare for class and how to accurately brief a case even before classes started thanks to Law Preview. The helpful hints, especially regarding study skills and exam taking, gave me an advantage over fellow classmates. I definitely was more prepared and caught on more quickly than some of the other students.

—Bridget K., Valparaiso University School of Law, Class of 2009

One of the best things about Law Preview was the opportunity to meet respected professors outside of the academic setting and hearing about their law school experiences. Knowing that some great legal minds also struggled with the rule against perpetuities helped to greatly ease any worries I had. Also the study skills and scheduling taught during the course helped me to tailor a study schedule and style that allowed me to get a great amount of work done in a little time as possible.

—Henry R., Valparaiso University School of Law, Class of 2009

Law Preview was very helpful in my first year. I went in with an idea of what to expect and what it would take to do well in school. Looking back on the semester, I was surprised to see just how accurate Law Preview was in thier observation of how students would be applying themselves and how students would act in the first semester. When making my decisions of what to do when it came to studying and extra curricular activities, I'm really glad I had a heads-up from Law Preview. I would recommend Law Preview to anyone planning to go to law school or even just considering law school--that one week in the summer is very realistic as to the work load, peers, and expectations. Thank you Law Preview!
